Yes. A place on the programme must be confirmed before a study permit application can be considered by the South African Department of Home Affairs. International applicants should be aware that obtaining study permits from the South African authorities can take approximately two months.

For the portion of the degree that you attend at the UCT GSB, students need to arrange their own accommodation. Student accommodation is offered in the Breakwater Lodge, on the UCT GSB campus, at special rates on either a monthly or half-yearly basis.
Beverly Shrand's career started at Reader’s Digest South Africa. Over the years, she has held various marketing management positions including that of Circulation Manager for the flagship product, the Reader’s Digest magazine. She spent several years as Marketing Manager at HomeChoice, a leading South African catalogue retailer of fashion, bedding, furniture and appliances. Later, as Marketing Executive at DirectAxis (a subsidiary of FirstRand Bank Limited), Shrand implemented a financial services joint venture with WesBank (also a subsidiary of FirstRand Bank Limited) that continues to be successful today.
Shrand’s main expertise is in the facilitation of applied systems-thinking. She has delivered numerous workshops and interactive classroom sessions for leaders and managers at all hierarchical levels, employed by organisations such as FirstRand, ABSA, Capitec, Sanlam, Woolworths, AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo American, Barrick Gold Corporation, Oxford University Press, Eskom, Transnet, Auditor General South Africa, EOH, Adcorp Holdings, Group Five, Volkswagen, CTICC, Groote Schuur Hospital, RCL Foods, and NAMFISA. She also designs and convenes Postgraduate and Executive Education management development programmes.
