Once you have enquired on our website, you will receive an email containing your unique Pre-application Portal Link. This sets you up with UCT GSB’s admissions team, your support along the application process. Each step of the process will be clearly indicated on the portal, with specific instructions for what to submit. 

NB: Before you proceed please ensure you meet the entrance criteria for the programme.

 Understanding the Admissions Process:

  1. Complete the pre-application form here 
  2. Work with the admissions advisor to compile application
  3. Formally submit your application
  4. Application is holistically reviewed by the Admissions Board
  5. Selected candidates invited to an interview with the Board
  6. Recommendation made by the Board
  7. Notified of decision by the Admissions Department

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

You can leave and return as you need to before making your final submission.

This section will include:

  • Personal information, including educational background and work history.
  • Standardised assessment; You will be required to provide your standardised assessment scores, or if you have not yet written your preferred standardised assessment please indicate whether you have booked a date for the test.
  • Three motivation essays. Specific instructions will be provided on the pre-application portal at this phase. You will be required to submit the essays in step two of the process.  Examples of questions include:
    • How would you define a "successful" MBA experience for you, personally?
    • What role should corporate social responsibility play in strategic business decisions?
    • How do you plan to balance all of the demands on your time and attention to ensure that you are able to be a fully engaged student?
  • Evaluator forms. You are required to provide contact details of two people who will provide a reference in support of your application
  • If you have not completed a qualification at the required NQF level, you might be able to apply through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) route and submit a Portfolio of Learning (POL) assessment form in the portal.
  • Applicants whose mother tongue is not English will be required to produce a TOEFL certificate to verify fluency in English.

  • Transcript (if non-UCT) 

The UCT GSB Admissions team will receive notification once this step is completed.

Upload your documents on the pre-application portal

This will allow the UCT GSB admissions team to process your application faster and more efficiently, and helps to ensure that your application submission is complete and accurate. Keep your hard copies safe as these may be requested in future.

This covers the administrative costs of your application

Application fees are non-refundable. Paying an application fee does not mean that your application will be successful.
