HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR MASTER OF MANAGEMENT (SPECIALISING IN INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT) APPLICATION

Thank you for taking the next step in applying for the Master of Management specialising in International Management, in partnership with CEMS.

Initially, you will progress through a pre-application manager which you will receive as a unique link via email once you have enquired or applied on our site. This is an important first step before your application begins, to set you up with UCT GSB’s admissions team; your support along the way.

If you would like to prepare in advance, please refer to these guidelines:

PREPARE

Please collate the following documents or speak to the necessary parties in order to make your application process more efficient.

  • Four short motivational essays.
In the “Confirm Your Documents” tab of your pre-application steps, you will see a list of required documents. You can download the templates provided and upload the documents in the same place, once complete. This is where you will submit your motivational essays.
    The topics include:
    • Why do you want to take the UCT GSB MIM programme?
    • How will you add value to your cohort, both at the UCT GSB and at your exchange school?
    • How will this programme help you achieve your career aspirations?
    • How will you go about securing your required 8-week internship?
  • Take the GMAT. All MIM applicants are required to write the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and obtain an acceptable GMAT score.
    • Please note: We don’t run the GMAT testing process. It is administered by a third party and there is a cost associated with the assessment. You can, however, do a preparation course through the UCT GSB to gain a competitive advantage.
    • When registering for the GMAT, please complete the section which authorises GMAC to send a copy of your result directly to the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town; our code number is 0837.
  • Complete mother tongue declaration form: all candidates are required to declare their mother tongue upon applying to the programme.
  • Possess a second language other than English at intermediate proficiency, and provide evidence of this.
Applicants whose mother tongue is not English will be required to produce a TOEFL certificate to verify fluency in English.

As part of the MIM application process, you will be required to upload a series of supporting documents on your UCT online application.

The following documents will be required:

  • CV
  • ID document
  • Copies of certificates and transcripts
  • Mother tongue declaration form

Thereafter, you will be prompted to confirm these same documents by our UCT GSB admissions team so be sure to keep these files on hand.
