International Leadership Development Programme (ILDP)

The W&RSETA has been contributing to accelerating the development of leaders in the Wholesale and Retail Sector through the International Leadership Development Programme (ILDP).

This programme was designed to increase the talent pipeline of highly promotable, historically disadvantaged leaders earmarked for senior or executive positions.

The ILDP exposes delegates to best practice in leadership as well as wholesale and retail practices locally and internationally. The programme boasts an alumni of over 400 senior leaders who are making remarkable strides in advancing the sector and positioning wholesale and retail as a lucrative career proposition.

Since its inception, the ILDP has been instrumental in the promotion of over 200 delegates with several assuming additional responsibilities in their portfolios. Delegates have been promoted to positions of directors, general managers, executives, managing directors, chief financial officers, and have been appointed to executive committees of retail companies. Others have pursued entrepreneurial opportunities starting their own businesses which are contributing to the growth of the country.

The prestigious International Leadership Development Programme (ILDP) is aimed at accelerating the development of participants from historically disadvantaged groups in line with the Employment Equity Act. 

Companies are encouraged to prioritise:

  •  Africans
  • Women
  • Participants with disabilities.

Only W&RSETA registered companies are eligible to nominate candidates for the programme.

  • Large companies are eligible to nominate up to 5 candidates
  • Medium companies up to 2 candidates and
  • Small companies can nominate 1 candidate

Companies are NOT allowed to nominate more than the prescribed number of candidates.

The closing date for nominations is 30 November 2023.
NO late nominations will be considered and NO extensions will be granted.

  • NQF 6 qualification 
  • Proven middle management experience of 5-10 years
  • Earmarked for senior management through the company’s talent pipeline
