RISE

Inclusion, access, and equality in the workplace

The University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and the MBA students are proud to host the 21st annual Women in Business Conference, and this year, the conference is set to break new ground.

We are living in a time when uncertainty is the only certainty, our lives and livelihoods as well as the business landscape throughout the world have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic in unprecedented ways. To mitigate against the challenges brought on by the pandemic we will be hosting the conference completely online for the first time ever.

The theme is about empowerment, strength, and unity – if we stand together, we can Rise as women.
The conference is premised on the idea that sustainable economic growth is impossible without women empowerment, and asks the questions:
What does female empowerment mean?
How do we address gender disparity in leadership?
What can be done about the gender pay gap?

Event Information

The Women in Business Conference brings together leaders and executives from the private, public and NGO sectors who have brought about meaningful change in our business landscape.

The issue of gender equality continues to gain momentum globally. Working women contribute greatly to education, health, and wellness, and achieving gender equality is critical to economic development. We need to ensure that women have equal opportunities and resources in order to move towards inclusive economic structures. The time has come to break barriers and stereotypes to find ways to promote inclusivity and drive change.
