Dr Francois  Bonnici


François Bonnici is physician, professor and currently the Director of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, and Head of Social Innovation at the World Economic Forum. He is the former Founding Director of the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the UCT Graduate School of Business, the first academic centre dedicated to social innovation in Africa. His experience spans over two decades of working across multiple systems, sectors and scales, deeply rooted in context and frontline work, while also working extensively with public sector, multilaterals, civil society, business and foundations in progressive and catalytic partnerships. He has been recognised as a Rhodes Scholar, South Africa (1999), a Global Leadership Fellow of the World Economic Forum (2005), and an Archbishop Tutu African Leadership Fellow (2013). Bonnici serves as board member of the Tshishimani Centre for Activist Education.
