Assoc Prof Stephanie Giamporcaro


Dr Stephanie Giamporcaro is a visiting associate professor at the UCT GSB and an associate professor in responsible and sustainable finance at Nottingham Business School, UK. She is involved in research and teaching on impact investment and sustainable and responsible investment at both schools. She has designed and lectured courses in the field of SRI for the MBA and MCom in Development Finance programmes. She supervises MBAs, Masters and PhD on SRI, impact investment, social finance developmental finance, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, sustainability and innovation and more generally on the social construction of markets. She is also regularly invited to teach on executive education courses around sustainable and impact investment.

She is a core academic member of the world-renowned Bertha Centre for Social innovation and Entrepreneurship. Her research outputs include the Africa Investing for Impact Barometer, targeted at the investment industry, policy makers, media and civil society to effect change and practices in the implementation of SRI and impact investment strategies in the African continent. Giamporcaro holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Paris V France.

Prior to her academic career, she was the head of SRI for the French think tank Novethic, subsidiary of the French Public Investment Group Caisse des Depots and was one of the leading experts on SRI management and strategies in France. In 2013 she was nominated one of the 35 foreigners under 35 making an impact in Africa.
