Dr Anet Potgieter is the co-Founder and Technical Director of Cognitive Systems (Pty) Ltd, a South African software engineering company focusing on Cognitive Computing, Distributed Artificial Intelligence in Internet of Things and Big Data Environments.

Anet is a Computer Scientist specialising in Cognitive Distributed Artificial Intelligence (AI). Cognitive Systems developed a Cognitive Distributed AI platform called the Artificial Mind Engine (AME). Cognitive Systems integrated the AME platform into a South African community safety entrepreneurial ecosystem (https://avlytics.co.za/). 

Anet is also a co-Founder of EPCON in Belgium. EPCON uses their Cognitive AI Health platform to improve people’s access to health. EPCON captures, combines and analyse health records, lifestyle and contextual data to measure disease burden, predict its evolution as well as the effect of interventions (https://www.epcon.ai/ai-for-good). 

Previously she was the Head of the Agents Research Laboratory in Observatory, South Africa, co-Founder & Honorary Research Associate of The Robotics and Agents Research Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as well as a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Science Department of the University of Cape Town.
