Dr Makoena Sebatjane
Makoena Sebatjane is a senior lecturer at the UCT GSB with his teaching and research focus on the fields of operations and supply chain management. An industrial engineer by training, Makoena uses analytical tools to optimize operational decision-making in supply chains. His work places a specific focus on inventory management, looking at ways to not only reduce operational costs across different supply chain contexts, but also to improve the distribution of goods in the face of the myriad uncertainties confronting modern global markets.
Makoena is an NRF Y-rated researcher whose work bridges the gap between commercial supply chain management and operations research. His insights have been published in several highly ranked journals in the Operations Research and Management Science fields, including Computers & Operations Research, Annals of Operations Research, and Expert Systems with Applications. The common thread across all his published work is the practical application of advanced analytics to solve complex logistical challenges and drive operational efficiency.
