Mr Wayne Moodaley


Wayne Moodaley is a Senior Lecturer specialising in Accounting and Finance at the UCT GSB. He has more than 15 years’ experience in banking, professional services, and higher education.

As an academic, Wayne has held a number of leadership roles at business schools, including Acting Academic Director, MBA Programme Director, and Capstone Course Convenor. He has served as Visiting Faculty at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, where he taught on the MBA programme and was nominated for a teaching award. His research analyses the intersection of artificial intelligence, sustainability reporting, and greenwashing.

Within the corporate sphere, Wayne has advised executives and senior management on complex financial reporting issues, at some of the largest companies in Africa, including FirstRand, ABSA, Standard Bank, Syspro, and Old Mutual. As a CA(SA), he has held positions at Standard Bank, Deloitte, and PwC, leading teams to successfully deliver on challenging financial reporting and capital markets engagements.

In 2023, Wayne delivered his first TedX talk entitled “What is the future of imagination?”

He was previously a contributing author for PwC's Africa Capital Markets Watch publications, and his academic thought leadership has been published in the Financial Mail and Daily Maverick.

Wayne holds an MBA awarded with distinction from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
