Daniel Gross
Daniel Gross is an Adjunct Professor at Yale University, where he teaches courses on the finance of renewable energy at the School of Management, the School of the Environment, and the Law School. Outside of academia, Mr. Gross has been an investor in the African power sector and has served in advisory capacities for African utilities, utility regulators, government ministries and development finance institutions.
He currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of X-energy (NASDAQ: XE), a leading developer of advanced small modular nuclear reactors and fuel technology for clean energy generation. Mr. Gross brings extensive experience in private equity, venture capital, and energy project finance to the company’s executive leadership team. Prior to assuming his role as CFO, Mr. Gross was a Director in the Corporate Development unit at Amazon.com, with principal focus on the Climate Pledge Fund, a corporate venture capital fund with US $2 billion in initial commitments.
He was previously Chief Investment Officer of Climate Real Impact Solutions, an investment vehicle listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Gross was one of the founding Partners of Hudson Clean Energy, a private equity firm with over $1 billion in assets under management. Previously, Mr. Gross was a Vice President in Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group, where he was a key member of the alternative energy investment team.
Prior to Goldman, he worked at GE Capital’s Energy Financial Services unit where he headed the renewable energy investment business. Mr. Gross is a Fulbright Scholar and earned three degrees from Yale University: a Masters in Environmental Management, an M.B.A., and a B.A. (Phi Beta Kappa).
