Dr Beverly Celia  Shrand


Beverly began her corporate career at Reader’s Digest South Africa, where she held various management positions including circulation manager for the flagship magazine. After a brief sabbatical overseas, Beverly became marketing manager at HomeChoice, a leading South African catalogue retailer. Later, at DirectAxis (a subsidiary of FirstRand Bank Limited), Beverly implemented a financial services joint venture with WesBank, also a subsidiary of FirstRand Bank Limited, that continues to be successful today.

After completing her MBA in 2006, Beverly commenced her academic career, whilst simultaneously consulting in the private sector. She joined the UCT Graduate School of Business (GSB) as permanent faculty in 2010. Since completing her PhD in 2018, she has published conference papers and academic journal articles in the field of HRM and Organisational Psychology. Beverly launched UCT GSB’s Master’s in International Management programme as Academic Director of the programme. Currently she is Programme Director of UCT GSB’s flagship Executive Development Programme, one of several (accredited and non-accredited) management development programmes she convenes.

Beverly is a highly experienced course convenor, programme designer, facilitator and action learning coach, utilising applied Systems Thinking for improving team effectiveness, change agility, and collective problem-solving. She delivers numerous workshops and interactive classroom sessions, across all sectors and managerial levels,  at UCT GSB, Henley Business School, GIBS, and in the private sector.
