The GSB is committed to making funding and scholarship opportunities available to talented, motivated and deserving individuals who meet the entrance criteria for our academic programmes.
Please note - you can only apply for a scholarship once you have started your application for the PhD programme.
The following opportunities are available for PhD students:
This PhD scholarship is awarded to first year students wishing to pursue research on innovation processes and industry emergence and/or evolution. This is part of a research programme initiated and supported by Dr Ken Davidian, who graduated in 2018 with his PhD on this theme. This research is part of the GSB’s broader ambition to provide a platform for students, academics and business professionals from around the world to collaborate and originate new ideas and develop new solutions to current and future challenges, particularly those facing the African continent.
Applicants may study innovation processes in diverse forms, different research contexts, and at different levels of analysis. Special consideration will be given to proposals focused on industries or company populations as levels of analysis. We also expect a systematic mapping of significant changes in the five innovation process concepts (i.e., people, ideas, relationships, outcomes, and contexts), in order to accumulate data that can be used across research projects.
The scholarship will cover the total cost of PhD tuition (approximately R 20 000 per annum) for each
of three consecutive years.
