Event Overview

Africa is entering a defining decade. Across the continent, governments are asserting greater control over natural resources, data, supply chains, and industrial policy, reshaping how business is done. As geopolitical competition intensifies and regulatory environments evolve, success in Africa by 2030 will demand more than market opportunity — it will require alignment with national priorities, ethical leadership, and long-term partnership models.

This Johannesburg Alumni Talk, hosted by the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, brings together leading thinkers and practitioners to explore how organisations can operate responsibly, competitively, and sustainably in a sovereignty-led business environment.

What to Expect

The discussion will explore:

What economic sovereignty means in practice for African markets

The regulatory, political, and geopolitical shifts shaping business by 2030

Strategies for building ethical, inclusive, and resilient business models

Practical insights for investors, corporates, entrepreneurs, and policymakers
