Athol Williams is a Senior Lecturer specialising in Corporate Responsibility and Ethical Leadership at the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business. He is a Tutor in Philosophy and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford and has taught Strategy at the University of Cape Town and Wits Business School. He is a Member of the Scholars and Practitioners Network, CSI Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Applied Ethics, University of Stellenbosch and a Member of the International Network of Scholars and Activists for Afrikan Reparations (INOSAAR).  
 
Athol is an experienced Corporate Strategy Advisor, having served as a Partner at Bain & Company, Strategy Director for Old Mutual and MD at Taurus Associates. He has served on the boards of numerous companies and NGOs, and currently serves as the Chairman of Read to Rise, a youth literacy NGO which he co-founded in 2013.
 
He is an acclaimed poet and social philosopher with over 100 poems published in literary journals and four published books of poetry. He has also published five children’s books in the Oaky series and published his autobiography, Pushing Boulders: Oppressed to Inspired. He is the only poet to have won the Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Award twice (2015 & 2016),and has also won the SA Independent Publishers Award for Poetry (2017), the Parallel Universe Poetry Context at Oxford University (2016) and been runner-up for the SA Literary Award for Poetry (2016).
 
Athol holds a BSc(Eng) in Mechanical Engineering from Wits University, as well as five Masters degrees - from Harvard University (USA), University of Oxford (UK), London School of Economics – LSE (UK), Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT (USA) and London Business School (UK) in public policy, political philosophy, political theory, business (MBA) and corporate finance, respectively, and is currently completing his doctorate at the University of Oxford (UK).
