Faculty from the Allan Gray Centre lecture on the PhD programme, MBA programme, EMBA programme, MPhil programme, PGDip programmes, as well on Executive Education programmes at UCT GSB. Additionally, they offer Electives in Diversity, Gender & Intersectionality, and Inclusion, as well as Advanced Leadership, as well as offer an online short course on Values-Based Leadership in association with GetSmarter/2U.
Understand social dynamics and deconstruct the ways in which powerful systems of sense-making, invested in retaining the status quo and economically-beneficial ways of operating, support dysfunctional ways of engaging and continue to embed structures of dominance by some over others. This course explores issues such as: racism, gender and intersectionality, gender-based violence, disability, identity, whiteness, heteronormativity and atypical ways of being, among others.
Go a bit deeper. This course seeks to grow you as a leader through growing you as a person. You will reflect on the fundamental assumptions about your humanity, the nature of personal "imperfection", vulnerability, personal scars, psychological scars, resilience, adaptation and the impact of our conditioning on what we believe is possible and what we deserve.
NOTE: Electives on the MBA programme are open to alumni of all UCT GSB programmes. To apply please email: AllanGrayVBL.Centre@gsb.uct.ac.za
Learn what it means to manage through values. This course gives you the skills to lead an organisation according to your values and beliefs, rather than by the traditional managerial approach that prioritises a profit-focused business model.
