Dr Sean Gossel's expertise at the GSB lies in the areas of finance, econometrics, financial globalization, and macroeconomics. Sean lectures finance on the MBA, macroeconomics on the EMBA, financial risk management on the MCom (Development Finance) programmes, and the MBA elective Capital Flows and Emerging Markets.
Sean’s lectures seek to position finance and macroeconomics in a historical, emerging market, and financial globalisation context. His research and supervision focusses on quantitative topics in corporate finance, behavioural finance, financial economics, financial markets, asset pricing, and capital flows. Sean is a peer-reviewer for twelve international journals, is on the editorial review board of the Journal of African Business, and is an external examiner for various South African universities.
Before joining academic full-time in 2011, Sean acquired over ten years of local and international management consulting experience in the areas of financial strategy, financial and econometric analysis and forecasting, financial modelling, and valuations. His professional affiliations include the Africa Growth Institute, the Economic Society of South Africa (ESSA) and the Southern African Finance Association (SAFA).
