Scholarship Terms and Conditions

  • Qualifying candidates need to be South African or African citizens or be a permanent citizen for at least 1 year
  • The scholarship covers tuition fees only for either a modular 2 year course (MBA or MPhil) or 1 year full-time course (MBA).
  • The following costs are not covered unless otherwise advised:
    • Living expenses, flights, visa, subsistence, travel or application administration costs, all pre-application tests fees (including but not limited to GMAT test, GMAT Prep course, NBT and MCPA).
  • Candidates who fail year 1 or part thereof (in the case of a modular course) automatically become disqualified from further study.
  • Candidates will be held liable for the full amount of the tuition fees if s/he does not complete the course.
  • MBA applicants are required to write the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) at their own cost.
  • Limited scholarships are available. To be eligible for consideration, all applications must be complete.
  • Candidates must be accepted onto the 2018 GSB MBA or MPhil programme to be eligible for scholarships. 
  • Scholarships will be awarded during December 2017. Should you received no communication by this date, please accept this as indication that your application was not successful.
  • Preference will be given to MBA full-time candidates from a historically disadvantaged background.
  • The scholarship committee's decisions regarding recipients are final and no correspondence will be entered into thereafter.
  • The scholarship is not transferable across persons or UCT institutions.
    • It is not cash transferable and cannot be deferred to another year or transferred to another programme.
    • The scholarship is only valid for the 2018 academic year.
  • The candidate is required to physically attend all classes and have the permission of his/her employer to do so (if employed).
  • UCT GSB reserves the right not to award any scholarships.
  • All short listed candidates will be required to:
    • Complete an affidavit containing financial details
    • Sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
