Master of Commerce in Management Practice Specialising in Trade Law and Policy
The UCT Graduate School of Business (GSB) in association with tralac (Trade Law Centre) is offering a Masters degree, a Masters of Commerce specialising in Trade Law and Policy. The aim of the programme is to develop Trade Law and Trade Policy capacity for countries in East and Southern Africa.
Who should apply?
Middle to senior Managers/ Government Officials with responsibility for International Trade from:-
Government officials working on trade matters ( Ministries of Trade and Industry, International Relations or Foreign affairs, as well as related line Ministries such as Commerce and Industrial Development, Transport, Communication, Energy, Health, Education, Customs and Revenue Authorities)

Officials from regional secretariats (e.g. Southern African Development Community Secretariat), trade administration bodies (e.g. International Trade Administration Commissions), international organisations

Trade practitioners (e.g. from private sector/business organizations; consulting firms, trade and investment promotion agencies)

Parliamentarians (e.g. Portfolio or Select Committees with responsibilities for international trade matters)

NQF 9 – 180 credits
Duration
It is a two-year modular programme run at the Breakwater Campus of the UCT GSB, Waterfront Cape Town. The three residential modules are two weeks in duration, dates as follows:
Module 1: 15 - 29 June 2013
Module 2: 26 October - 9 November 2013
Module 3: tba (March 2014)
Closing date for applications: 15 April 2013
Entrance Requirements
A four year tertiary degree or
Honours in Economics, Commerce, Law or related; or
Honours degree in other non-Economics, Commerce or Law-related discipline, with at least 3 years work experience in international trade-related work; or
Bachelors degree plus postgraduate diploma in Management Practice/Business administration.
Fees
Tuition: R65 000 (tuition, texts and course materials only)
Non-refundable deposit: R5 000 due on acceptance of offer
On receipt of an official sponsorship letter agreement from company/organisation the following is accepted:
Fifty percent (50%) of fees are due before/on registration at start of programme
Balance and final amount due by 29 November 2013
If no sponsorship agreement is lodged, full fees are due before/on registration.
