Because a new world needs new ideasComplexity, uncertainty, relentless change; these global touchstones of the times challenge traditional thinking about how business operates, economies grow, and societies develop - and the world needs new ways to deal with them.
The UCT Graduate School of Business (GSB) provides a springboard for students, academics and business professionals from around the world to collaborate and originate new ideas and develop new solutions to current and future challenges, particularly those facing us in Africa.
Grounded in an ethos of accountability, measurability and integrity, our focus is on inspiring and enabling new ways of thinking and acting in business that lead to sustainable success – with a particular focus on emerging market business.
The GSB has always been at the vanguard of change. The school is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and for five decades we have been setting the pace for business education on the continent.
Year after year, the school is recognised by its global peers at the Eduniversal World Convention and in the QS Global 200 survey as the top business school in Africa. It is also one of just three business schools in Africa to have the prestigious triple-crown accreditation. And its full-time MBA is the only African programme to be ranked in the Financial Times Global Top 100 MBAs.
Behind these accolades lies a strong commitment to teaching, learning and research. We have the largest full-time faculty of any business school on the continent and a research output to match. We are constantly investing in quality scholarship – the most recent example being the establishment of a case study centre at the school in partnership with the Harvard Business School Alumni Club in South Africa.
Strong and dynamic partnerships also underpin our many specialised units such as the Alan Gray Centre for Values-Based Leadership and the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, where academics, practitioners, entrepreneurs and professionals, work together to bridge theory and practice, transforming innovative ideas into practical solutions for emerging market problems and generating quality teaching materials.
If you are a motivated and passionate individual who wants to make a positive difference in business and in society – you will find a home at the GSB.
The GSB caters to leaders and managers at every stage of their learning journey. Our top-ranked academic programmes include: the Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), MBA in Executive Management (EMBA), Master of Commerce in Development Finance, Master of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovative, a PhD Programme and the Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice.
The school’s Executive Education unit additionally offers numerous short courses both traditional and online, as well as customised courses for corporate and other clients.
We invite you to join us, share in the excitement, bring your new ideas, and shape a better world with us.
