South Africa and its tertiary education sector are at a critical point in their transformation journey – these are exciting and challenging times and they demand from us our full commitment and engagement.
It is with this spirit that the GSB is entering its 6th decade. As Africa’s leading business school, we have set the pace for business education on the continent for half a century and don’t intend to slow down now.
Year after year, the school is recognised by its global peers at the Eduniversal World Convention and in the QS Global 200 survey as the top business school in Africa. It is also one of just three business schools in Africa to have the prestigious triple-crown accreditation. And its full-time MBA was ranked in the Financial Times Global Top 100 MBAs for 12 years and was the only African business school to feature in this ranking.
As a top school located in a changing emerging market, we have a responsibility to engage with the socio-political and economic context in which we find ourselves. Our teaching, learning and research is directed towards building a
more economically prosperous, more equitable, and more integrated continent. Our faculty is inspired to transform innovative ideas into relevant solutions for emerging market problems and to generate top-notch teaching materials to help others to do the same. The school is constantly investing in quality scholarship and strong partnerships to support these aims.
All this ensures that the GSB understands the shifting challenges and demands facing leaders and managers at every stage of their learning journey. We know how to support adults in the learning – and unlearning - needed to succeed in business today, and our experience and knowledge goes into developing exceptional programmes.
Our top-ranked academic programmes include: the Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), MBA in Executive Management (EMBA), Master of Commerce in Development Finance, Master of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovative, a PhD Programme and the Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice. These are constantly evaluated and refreshed to keep them current and relevant.
The school’s Executive Education unit additionally offers numerous short courses both traditional and online, as well as customised courses for corporate and other clients.
In everything we do, we are grounded in an ethos of accountability, measurability and integrity. The GSB strives to be a non-racial, non-sexist and forward-looking business school where everybody, irrespective of who they are, feels that they are valued and appreciated. Where each person knows that they can make a contribution and that they can advance. It is home where talented and motivated individuals can collaborate, originate new ideas and bring their unique skills and passions to bear on the challenges that lie ahead.
