To access this unique pool of talent, at Africa's most highly ranked business school, the Career Centre team works with each recruiter to develop a Graduate Recruitment Programme tailored to their needs. The available services include:
Campus Recruitment Presentations and Workshops
The most popular form of recruitment engagement is the scheduled company presentation/workshop. These presentations can center around company information or related content (a more indirect approach). Workshops are typically structured to assist students in preparing for the interview or application process. The Career Centre team assists with the coordination of their events and catering and bar services are available. In 2015, a total of 31 company presentations and workshops were hosted at UCT GSB by sought after employers including General Electric, Bain & Company and Deloitte.
Working alongside recruiters, the Career Centre can assist in structuring and promoting internship opportunities, either during the academic year(s) (for modular students) or after completing their studies. These allow recruiters to market their organisations on an experiential level as well as to connect with and evaluate suitable talent from the GSB graduate pool.
The Career Fair is a further opportunity to connect with the broader student body at a single event. This fair allows recruiters to engage on a one-to-one basis at the GSB, at a time when most students are available. By combining memorable material about each organisation with the presence of engaging team members (from recruitment and beyond), the Career Fair is an excellent way to make a good impression. In 2016, the Career Fair will take place in two separate half-day events: "Corporate and Consulting" and "Innovation and New Ventures”.
Job Posting Board
Any specific opportunities received by the Career Centre will be made available on the Job Posting Board and will also be forwarded to those students who have expressed an interest in the related industry or position type. For opportunities with broad appeal, email postings can also be sent to the entire class on the MBA and other GSB programmes.
The Talent Guide is a user-friendly electronic publication that provides profiles on all graduating students and alumni currently seeking career opportunities. The standardised format and tagging by industry/skill set allow recruiters to review current GSB talent efficiently. The Careers Services team is always on hand to provide more detail on profiles included in the Talent Guide and to make formal introductions where necessary.
For recruiters with a particular profile or requirements, the Career Centre team can also create a shortlist of potential candidates. Connections can be facilitated directly or by the Career Centre, on behalf of the organisation in question.
